Staying in Edinburgh

Now I’ve talked about some places I’ve been or rather eaten at. Whilst in Edinburgh I stayed at nice place – The George Hotel on George street. It’s in a quaint old building in the centre of town and the best part is, that it doesn’t feel like a business hotel, more like a quaint country retreat. Well connected to various places and only 15 minutes walk to Edinburgh Castle (shorter to Princess Street) the George is good base for tourists in Edinburgh. The rooms are large enough, come with the usual 4* grab. The décor is classic with a modern flair (or the other way round); tasteful but at the end of the day all I wanted was a warm room with a comfy bed, which I got.

Beware however that for the African in Europe hotels are often bed only and there are no complementary trinkets. Therefore expect to pay £15 per person for an English/ Scottish breakfast and about the same for internet in the room (via Ethernet). Alternatively cross the street to The Hardrock Café or pop into the nearest Pret a Manger (just walk towards Princess Street) and grab a breakfast panini and a coffee; £4.

The hotel had a nice looking modish bar and restaurant, think 21^st Century pub all wood and sleek called Tempus. We didn’t eat there instead we dined here.
